Christmas Decorating already? How did that happen?! If you’re like me, this week of Thanksgiving kicks you into hardcore decorating mode and the joy and bustle become intertwined.
We want our homes to feel warm and, well, homey. For most of us, the holidays are a busy time for parties and family get-togethers. We enjoy having a lovely home to entertain and socialize. There is no better time than Christmas, to gather everyone together. I absolutely love Christmas time – somehow the house just feels happier when decorated with holiday accents – if that makes sense.
My home is modestly decorated for the season, and year after year the same holiday items are brought down from the attic and put on display.
We always put up a huge tree, with a wonderfully ridiculous amount of light strands, and an ever-growing collection of ornaments. The strategically hung mistletoe is a fun must-have tradition in our home. The Christmas wreath decorates the front door, and the stockings are hung and ready for Santa to fill with goodies – by now the kids are stoked! A nativity set is on display to remind my family of the reason we celebrate this day. These simple things just make me happy. I look forward to everything the season means, and how it warms my heart this time of year.
Whether your style is a sleek and simple white Christmas, a classic red and green, or your Christmas decorating is colorful and unique; I only have one tip to share and that is to simply BE there, in the now. Be jolly, merry, bright and kind! Be a blessing.
Oh, and you mustn’t forget – stand firm in the fact that you can never, ever, have too many lights! 😉
